Antminer S7 4.73 TH/s

The Antminer S7 is an older generation, and only a third as fast as the newer S9 – however, if you are just starting, and want something cheaper to play around with and learn the ropes, or if you simply want to be part of the Bitcoin network and supporting the decentralization, the S7 is […]

Antminer T9+ 10.5 TH/s

The Antminer T9+ is similar to the S9, but it’s quieter, and doesn’t hash quite as fast. Still a worthy competitor, and often cheaper than the S9, which makes it less expensive per terahash – just keep in mind that it uses more power, so over time you may actually not be ahead.

Antminer S9 Bitcoin Miner 13.5 TH/s

The Antminer S9 is the latest in a long line of SHA256 Bitcoin Mining rigs from Bitmain. This one is from a later batch and has a hashrate of 13.5TH per second, and uses about 1300 watts total.

Asic Mining

Asic miners are application specific computers that are built for one purpose – to mine as fast as possible, and to use as little electricity as possible (actually that’s two reasons). There is so much mis-information out there it’s incredible. Just the other day I did a search for the specific definition of ASIC (which […]

After restart, AwesomeMiner not showing all GPUs

This is a bit of a strange situation that happens with Awesome Miner. After a system restart, sometimes not all of your GPUs will be recognized, and yet in device manager, they’ll be listed. It’s just AwesomeMiner that doesn’t recognize them. The simple solution is to restart your computer from within AwesomeMiner. It’s strange, but […]

Is mining profitable 2018?

Of course – but we should clarify what you mean by profitable! People that bought GPUs 2 or 3 months ago, at MSRP (rather than double MSRP that most of the best mining GPUs seem to be selling for right now), have already mined enough to pay off the money the spent on their GPU […]

Why are cryptocurrencies useful?

There’s still confusion among the general public about how or why cryptocurrencies are necessary. Check this out for an example: a $10 billion transaction was sent using XRP (Ripple), for a total transaction cost of 0.000012 XRP (merely pennies). Compare that to any percentage that a bank, or Western Union, etc, would charge, and you […]

Overclocking a mining Rig – do I have to overclock each GPU?

If you have a GPU mining rig that you want to overclock, you’ve probably wondered if you could overclock the whole rig, or if you have to overclock one graphics card at a time? The answer is yes, you have to do each GPU separately – sort of. Depending on your overclocking software, you may […]

JPMorgan – Giant scam artist, or confused crypto amateur?

Mere months ago, back in October 2017, JPMorgan’s CEO Jamie Dimon said that digital currency was “stupid” and a “great product” for criminals. He even went as far as saying, “If you’re stupid enough to buy it, you’ll pay the price for it one day.” Dimon had also said that it was a market bubble […]
