It’s no secret that the company that built the memory on your mining GPU can have an effect on your overall hashrates. The simple reason for this is because different brands of memory can not overclock as high as others without getting errors.
Keep this in mind when looking at hash rates, especially for memory intensive algorithms like Ethash. Samsung memory can net 20-25% faster hashrates than the cheaper/lower quality brands of Hynix – Micron memory falls somewhere inbetween those two.
The Equihash algorithm is not AS affected by this because it is more dependent on your GPU’s core clock speed than it is on the memory speed. Any brand of memory should be able to get within 5% or so of the top Samsung brand memory.
